My mini Bio

I am a 14 year old, grade 8 student at Heritage Park Secondary School. After participating at ‘We Day’ last year, with Hillside Elemementary School, I worked with Hillside's ‘We’ group to understand, and act on, local and global issues such as homelessness, hunger, and education. I was also trained as a Peer Counsellor, and as a peer in Restorative Resolutions - a great big thank you to my teachers!

This past summer I attained a bursary to Free the Children’s Take Action Leadership Academy, where I honed my leadership skills and became more aware of local and global issues. March 2011 I participated in Free the Children's 'Youth in Action Summit' held at Simon Fraser University, and am proud to say I am a Youth Ambassador for both Free the Children and Me to We.

I am currently creating and attaining curriculum that will assist me in helping our local elementary schools’ ‘We Groups’ to understand and Take Action on several local and global issues such as hunger, clean water, sustainable employment and environmental issues.

I belong to Heritage Park Secondary School’s Leadership Group as well as the Mission Public School’s District’s District Leadership Team.
I continue to educate myself and others by acting as a Youth Ambassador for ‘Me to We’. Through my activities I hope to create awareness of local and global issues, and to Take Action to create change for a better global society.

My current goals include a volunteer trip to Kenya this summer in order to build a school, build water wells, and much, much more! Please see the Kenya page on this blog for more information.  My other goal is to supply two bursaries for local Elementary School Me to We students so they can attend the Take Action Academy this summer at UBC.

I believe in taking action and I also believe in paying it forward - a great big thank you to everyone who supports both my efforts, and the efforts of all youth who take action for change.
